Jamaica’s Passport Makes Global Strides in 2024 Henley Passport Index
The recently released rankings by the London-based global citizenship and residence advisory firm Henley & Partners highlight Jamaica’s progress in facilitating international travel.
The Jamaican passport now provides visa-free access to 90 destinations, including countries like Singapore, Russia, Serbia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Philippines, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Kenya, and South Africa.
Barbados continues to hold the title of the most powerful passport in the Caribbean, securing the 22nd position globally with access to an impressive 165 countries.
The Bahamas, St Kitts and Nevis, and St Vincent and the Grenadines closely follow, holding the 24th and joint 25th positions, respectively, in the global rankings.
Six nations, including France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, and Singapore, share the top spot in the 2024 Henley Passport Index, boasting visa-free access to a record-breaking 194 destinations.
This collective achievement highlights the increasing interconnectedness of these nations on the global stage.
However, the global ranking of passports also reveals disparities, with Afghanistan ranking at the bottom, holding the 104th position and providing visa-free access to only 28 destinations.
The Henley Passport Index, recognised as the original and most authoritative passport ranking, relies on data from the International Air Transport Association.
Covering 199 passports and 227 travel destinations, the index serves as a benchmark for measuring a country’s global influence and diplomatic reach.
