JUTC’s Karma

We need the Americans to step in and have a special congressional hearing on the current administration of the PNP and the JUTC; they seem to be pretty interested in our affairs as a country.

We need some clarity on the management of the JUTC over the life of the company and I don’t care which Government this implicates. A clinical forensic audit is needed NOW.

The people must recognize that the draconian IMF measures are at the very heart of these measures. First they demand that we revalue our dollar and then the cost of everything goes up including the cost of the US dollar to buy the buses. The prices of the buses have remained stable, the South Americans that JUTC buy their buses from don’t operate on the same platform as Jamaica where everyday things increase so it is the dollar devaluation that has resulted in the general increase in inputs such as gas, maintenance and other overheads and then when they (IMF/Phillips) cause these effects deliberately, they turn around and tell suffering Jamaicans that they are also removing the subsidies? What about the stake of the Jamaican people in terms of the subsidies and initial capital that they were and are being asked to fork out? Does that not count for something?

Jamaican people pay for mismanagement corruption of JUTC

How many people that rip off the JUTC have been brought to justice? Have their estates (in the case of the dead ones that were being paid monthly) and the assets of the others been seized to offset those lost revenues etc?.

When the PNP allowed incompetent comrades to erode the financial viability of that company, they wasted many years (Missing Years) and now that they have squandered their profits and goodwill, the travelling public has been asked to bear the burden for their gross mismanagement.

Why are they having private lanes for themselves and private insurance when other bus owners cant do the same? Will they grant the private owners who face the same issues a fare increase similar to theirs through their puppet OUR. Is this how modern Governments across the globe conduct business?

How many hard working entrepreneurs that own buses have they disenfranchised by taking away their routes licenses and imposing heavy franchise fees and draconian measures on them to make JUTC more competitive? Why is Government competing with the private sector in this regard? Why not open some supermarkets since you are so concerned about the POOR; Have the JUTC paid the persons that they have met in accidents with? Have they settled their liabilities with accident victims. Have they paid Ezra Millwood’s estate and that of the other bus owners for disrupting their lives?

Has anyone ever sat and done a review of the losses that have been incurred for an entrepreneur who doesn’t have his cash at his disposal to do what and when he so chooses for the growth of his business? The authorities over both administrations have behaved very unconscionable to the Jamaican businessmen that have taken a risk and have to work with OUR’s recommendations for fares while they suffer major losses. They don’t have the advantage of using Taxpayers money to underwrite the cost of buses, neither do they have the option to not pay Franchise Fees or Insurance cost.

When can someone deal with the real issues and the causes?
