Acting Prime Minister of The Bahamas Robbed at gunpoint! – Travel Warning Issued

The United States Embassy in Nassau, has issued a travel warning for its citizens living in or travelling to the Bahamas yesterday.

The warning comes four days after acting Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Phillip Brave Davis was held at gunpoint and robbed at his home.

According to the US Embassy a number of Americans have frequently fallen victim to robbers since this year, and it has noted the armed robbery of the Acting Prime Minister.

The Embassy also informed its citizens that there were 457 reported armed robberies and 928 house break-ins between January 1 and May 27, 2013.

“The Embassy strongly recommends that US citizens travelling to or residing in the Bahamas enrol in the Department of State’s Smart Traveller Enrolment Program (STEP).

STEP enrolment provides the latest security updates, and makes it easier for the Embassy to contact you in an emergency” the US Embassy stated.
