Cold Front Forecasted to Affect Jamaica Through Friday
The Meteorological Service has alerted that a Cold Front passing over Jamaica early Tuesday morning continues to generate robust winds across the island since late Monday.
These winds have predominantly impacted hilly regions, as well as the northern coastal and offshore marine areas.
Recent observations have noted coastal flooding caused by substantial waves along sections of the north coast, including parts of Montego Bay.
The forecast predicts that these strong winds will persist across Jamaica and its territorial waters until Friday.
Additionally, the Met Service anticipates further coastal flooding along northern coastal regions during this period.
There’s also a risk of infrastructural damage in hilly areas due to the continued strong winds.
Mariners, particularly those operating within the Inshore North Coast and Offshore South Coast zones, are urged to exercise extreme caution as sea conditions are expected to remain hazardous until Friday.
