Jamaica’s 65-member team for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary (August 19 to 27) , has been announced, with sprint stars Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Shericka Jackson leading the way. Both athletes will compete in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m events.

Shericka Jackson has been in outstanding form, leading the world list in the 100m with an impressive personal best of 10.65 seconds achieved during the Jamaica trials.

In the 200m, Jackson secured the fastest time in the world this season, 21.71 seconds, during the Jamaican trials, earning her a wildcard entry as the defending champion in Budapest.

Similarly, Fraser-Pryce enjoys a wildcard entry in the 100m as the defending champion.

Five-time world 100m champion, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has also qualified for the 200m in Budapest.

Elaine Thompson-Herah, the double-double Olympic sprint champion, will be part of the women’s 4x100m team, despite not competing since the National trials.

However, American-born Lanae-Tava Thomas, who finished third in the women’s 200m at the Jamaica trials, will not represent Jamaica in Budapest due to clearance issues.
