Jamaican Ace Bailey Signs Deal To Join Aston Villa
Leon Bailey, the Jamaican midfielder, has agreed to sign for English Premier League (EPL) outfit Aston Villa from German club Bayer Leverkusen.
The 23-year-old Kingston-born winger’s transfer is subject to successfully completing a medical and finalising personal terms.
Bailey, who had two years remaining on his contract with Leverkusen, made over 100 appearances for the side following his move from Belgian giants Genk.
He has 10 caps for Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz and played at this month’s CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he finished on the winning side against both Guadeloupe and Suriname.
Bailey was unable to complete last season’s German Bundesliga season with a flourish because of a toe injury, but scored 15 goals.
The announcement was made by Aston Villa on social media, just seconds before the EPL outfit revealed that England midfielder Jack Grealish is subject to a £100m (US$139m) deal with big-spending Manchester City
