The Chinese Will Soon Own the Best of This Country
Dr. Carolyn Cooper highlighted a very important happening recently.
In her article published in the Gleaner, titled “Selling Jamaica To ‘Mr Chin’“, she states:
“I recently heard that a long-time resident of Hope Pastures was driving home when he was stopped by the police for a spot check. He was told that the Chinese had been complaining about strange people driving through Hope Pastures. A lot of new Chinese have been buying houses there.”
Whether we turn a blind eye or play hypocrites, it is staring us in the face – the increased property purchases by the Chinese immigrants.
No longer are they temporary citizens, the Chinese are holding on to prime Jamaican properties and buildings right across the island.
The Chinese have total ownership of many businesses formerly owned by blacks in places such as Spalding, Clarendon, Christiana, Manchester, Alexandria, and Brown’s Town, St. Ann.
Alexandria (Another town in St Ann), in particular no longer has any black businesses. Quite sad for a progressive town built on the sweat and tears of black Jamaican and black- German Jamaicans.
While no one can deny people acquiring property as it is their human and democratic right, it is alarming that many of the Chinese are behaving as if they own the country.
Their periodical demands upon the police to deter any black face who passes by their residence is downright rude. I would say it is racist.
This is the same behavior demonstrated to the people of Africa in areas of Zambia, South Africa, Namibia, Uganda and Zimbabwe where they conduct business and are now purchasing real estate for permanent abode.
While we invite and welcome foreigners, they should realize that they cannot intrude and trample upon the rights of locals. Their failure to respect the rights and privileges of Jamaicans will only lead to poor relationships and intolerance.

We should also realize that one reason that all those former home, and business owners are willing to sell their properties stems from the outlook on crime, unemployment, basic services and apathy that exists. People are not fighting to get passports because they plan on staying and educating their children in Jamaica, they are lining up in the hot sun to get visas to find opportunities and security in other countries.

it is alarming how these folks treat the native populous like second class citizens ..they own all the businesses and treat the people like trash wondering if this is a new province
Just come back from Jamaica and my heart is sad…foreign investors are taking over Jamaica (the best parts) and pushing Jamaicans back…it wont be pretty in the future for Jamaicans I can see it coming!! Jamaicans have never been able to realize the worth and value of that beautiful island…so outsiders looking in with greedy eyes are always coming in to capitalize, and the sad part is they wont be putting anything back into Jamaica…they are going to gain profit for themselves and their people!!! Damn… they don’t even like us!!!…WAKE UP JAMAICA!!!!!
AMen, I tell you man , they have such a sense of entitlement you cant help but feel strange. I stay away from their businesses because some of them are so rude and imposing. Also they come in droves and multiply like wild bush. I hope the immigration department is keeping them compliant.
Chinese are over billion strong compared to our 3 milion people..if they have a problem with black faces, then they are in the wrong place……they missed the boat when everyone else was enslaving Africans…..The government has a duty to protect Jamaicans from anyone who is coming in buying land and throwing their weight around……we should never be second class citizens to anyone because they have money…….
Why you think the crime in Jamaica does not affect them. They are part of the criminal underworld that payes off the criminals and the police to protect them.
So why the use of the word “blacks” why not say Jamaicans …
Jamaicans MUST realize that they have a NATION that still needs building, and it’s NOT ABC (A = America, B = Britain, C = Canada). I understand that people, living in a poor country with an impotent Govt and no opportunities, are going to want a better life and are willing to seek it abroad. But can we now see that there ARE national consequences to such a move? Who is going to build Jamaica, while Jamaicans are officially ENCOURAGED by politicians to go abroad and find work? How can ANY nation be built this way—the country loses its most… Read more »
