Jamaica ranks as the 5th most miserable country in the world!
The misery index is an economic indicator found by adding the unemployment rate to the inflation rate.
Generally as inflation rises the cost of living increases and as unemployment rises more people cross the economic line into poverty.
Jamaica has earned a place among the top five most miserable nations on earth according to the index published by the Cato Institute.
The list which contains 90 countries was selected based on data from the Economist Intelligence Unit and Professor of Applied Sciences at the John Hopkins University Steve Hank.
According to the study the main contributing factor for Jamaica which scored 42.3 on the Misery Index was attributed to the Interest Rate.
Meanwhile, Venezuela is ranked as the most miserable nation in the world with Iran, Serbia and Argentina in the top four places.
