Is Jamaica’s Samantha J another International Star in the Making?

17 -year old, Jamaican singer-songwriter Samantha J seems destined to blow up to be a major international star. She  possesses all the qualities that make her commercially viable on the global stage. She has ‘the looks, the youth and the talent to appeal to the masses. 

If you are familiar with many of America’s most popular music channels such as MTV or BET, there is a very good chance you have seen her face, though perhaps unknowingly.

It is quite surprising however that many Jamaicans are still not able to recognize her. She has done numerous interviews with many popular television and mainstream radio stations in the United States and has also had her song and music video “Tight Skirt” featured on several of them.

She can handle herself quite well in an interview as well as you can witness below:

She is as we say in Jamaica “Ready Fi Di Road!” 🙂

I am delighted to boast that she is also from my home parish, The Garden Parish of St. Ann though she was born in Kingston. St Ann has raised many of Jamaica’s musical greats.

She discovered her musical talent in preparatory school as the lead singer in a school choir and describes her music as a fusion between dancehall and pop.
