The lover’s rock anthem, on the “In My Arms” riddim, will be featured on Maxi Priest’s upcoming studio album slated for release this fall on VP Records. Maxi Priest also has select U.S. dates throughout the summer and fall season to gear up for the release of his new single and upcoming album. Maxi Priest, who has been spreading reggae music across the globe since the 1980s, has rightfully earned his place among other greats such as Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Toots & The Maytals and Dennis Brown. This is an extraordinary achievement for a singer steeped in Jamaican music, yet raised in South London. Maxi’s joyous brand of reggae and lovers’ rock, infused with r&b and accompanied by real charisma, has brought him a level of success no other British reggae singer can match. He is one of only two British reggae acts (along with UB40) to have a U.S. Billboard #1 hit “Close to You” in 1990, his duet with Roberta Flack, “Set the Night to Music” reached the U.S. Billboard Top 10 in 1991, and his duet with Shaggy in 1996, “That Girl,” was also a hit in the United States, peaking at #20.

 

Beres Hammond

Beres HammondReggae superstar Beres Hammond failed to show up to his own concert in east London’s IndigO2 on recently after a band member Kirk Bennett was denied entry into the UK. The drummer for the singer hitmaker was allegedly stopped at customs a few hours ahead of the star’s headline performance, forcing Hammond to make the difficult decision to stand by his friend and return to Jamaica. Bennett confirmed that he has a few immigration issues and had been unable to make the trip.

 

Rihanna endorses Busy Signals song

Busy Signal JamaicaNotice Productions produced single Come Over (Missing You), has been getting tremendous attention since pop artiste Rihanna sang the song on her recent instagram video. Featured on the Heart & Soul Rhythm the song has seen a massive increase of over two million views in a matter of days. The increased viewership has also spawned the video making its way onto MTV IGGY, an official arm of MTV that relentlessly scours the globe in search of exciting young musicians creating the sounds of the future. In a statement to E Zone Unga explained, “Over the past couple of days I have been getting a lot of calls and feedback about the song and that’s how I became aware of what Rihanna had done… for that I give thanks! But more importantly this proves once again the significant impact that Reggae music has around the globe.” In closing the musical virtuoso pleaded for the nation and its policy makers to respect and do more to uplift the Jamaican culture.Meanwhile, Unga who recently collaborated with Reggae stalwart Jimmy Cliff is expected to release a new project titled Intransit Rhythm featuring musical heavyweights: Demarco, Jah Cure, Konshens, I-Octane, Christopher Martin, Ras Penco and Chevaughn among others.

For Christopher Martin St. Kitts music festival was a wonderful show and the thousands in attendance showed him nothing but love from the moment he stepped on the stage until he departed. “It was great and I felt great while performing and after my performance as well…I just give praises to the almighty” says Christopher Martin. Immediately following his stellar St.Kitts performance it was off to Guyana. Christopher Martin had the sold out crowd, singing and dancing all night. The crowds favorite was Cheaters Prayer, Oh Na Na and Friend Dem.

Tifa JamaicaFemale Dancehall artiste Tifa and her music continues to make significant impact on the international scene, with her latest award being a nomination for MTV Iggy’s Song of the summer title.Her video Champion Bubbler which was produced by Dre Skull for Mix Pack Records who is best known for his work on Snoop Lion’s Reincarnation album, featured prominently a few months ago on the MTV Iggy site is competing for the coveted title along with nine other videos. In a release to E Zone , an excited Tifa explained that she feels honoured to be nominated for the award. Champion Bubbler is featured on the Kling Klang riddim.

International sources have revealed that an Ohio man claims singer Justin Bieber confronted him inside a bar and spat in his face on the weekend all because Justin thought he was secretly taking pictures. The man who is said to be a DJ who performed at the Social Room on Park Street in Columbus, He explained that two of Bieber’s bouncers approached him and said he was trying to take pictures of Bieber. He thinks JB was concerned because it was a 21plus night in the club and that the singer was only 19.The DJ says Bieber’s people grabbed his phone and started going through it looking for picture but didn’t find any. Still, the man claims, the bouncers told Justin he was trying to take pictures. According to him, Justin approached him moments later and spat in his face.
