Turkey Leaves U18 Reggae Boyz Reeling in Devastating 10-1 Defeat

On Wednesday Jamaica’s Under-18 Reggae Boyz suffered a devastating 10-1 defeat to Turkey.

Turkey’s offensive ability was on full display, with a barrage of goals from multiple players.

Mustafa Hekimolu, Gokdeniz Gurpuz, Muhammed Kaya, and Emre Gokay each found the net, while Cagri Fedai, Emirhan Arkutcu, and Recep Yalin Dilek secured individual braces, completing Turkey’s emphatic victory.

The match kicked off with a swift goal from Fenerbahce striker Fedai in the 11th minute, setting the tone for Turkey’s commanding performance.

Jamaica found themselves trailing 6-0 by halftime, as Turkey continued to assert their dominance on the field.

Despite Jamaica’s efforts to regroup in the second half, Turkey maintained their momentum, extending their lead with goals from Galatasaray forward Dilek in the 64th and 79th minutes, respectively.

Jamaica managed to salvage a consolation goal in the 88th minute, courtesy of Orane Watson, but it was not enough to offset the relentless onslaught from the Turkish attackers.

With this defeat, Jamaica’s woes in the tournament persist, marking their second consecutive loss after an earlier 2-1 defeat against Saudi Arabia.

The Reggae Boyz now find themselves at the bottom of the Group A standings, with zero points to their name.

Looking ahead, the junior Reggae Boyz are set to face Mali in their next match, as they aim to turn their fortunes around and secure their first win in the tournament.

Mali, having recorded a 2-2 draw against Turkey and a 4-2 win over Saudi Arabia, pose another formidable challenge for the Jamaican squad.
