Elaine Thompson-Herah Secures Victory in Switzerland with Season’s Best 10.92!
Jamaica’s superstar sprinter Elaine Thompson-Herah was victorious in the women’s 100m event at the Gala dei Castelli in Bellinzona, Switzerland.
The five-time Olympic champion, clocked a season’s best time of 10.92 seconds in this World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting on Monday.
Great Britain’s Imani Lansiquot achieved a significant milestone in her career by dipping under 11 seconds for the first time, finishing with an impressive time of 10.99.
Gina Bass claimed the third spot with a time of 11.12, while Zaynab Dosso narrowly missed her Italian record by just 0.01 seconds, finishing in 11.15.
Thompson-Herah’s compatriot Shashalee Forbes finished in sixth place with a time of 11.20.
However, Forbes bounced back to secure second place in the 200m, finishing in 22.74. Tamara Clark from the USA clinched the top spot with a time of 22.64, and Italy’s Dalia Kaddari took third place with a time of 22.86.
Thompson-Herah expressed her satisfaction with her performance, stating, “I’m happy with my win as I set my season’s best in Zurich last week and I improved it again. I want to continue this season and run more races.”
The meet also witnessed two more Jamaican victories, with Oblique Seville storming to victory in the men’s 100m event with a time of 10.01, narrowly edging out Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, who finished in 10.04.
