Reggae Girlz Complete Stunning 33-Pass Move in Thrilling 4-3 Victory Over Mexico
Solai Washington capped off an extraordinary spell of possession with Jamaica’s fourth goal in the 90th minute, completing a move involving approximately 33 passes as the Reggae Girlz secured a dramatic 4-3 victory over Mexico on Friday.
The Jamaican players kept possession for more than two minutes before Washington applied the finishing touch, producing one of the standout moments of the international friendly in Aguascalientes.
The goal proved particularly important as Mexico refused to surrender, with Charlyn Coralle producing a spectacular strike in the fifth minute of added time. Her curling effort from approximately 22 yards found the far right corner, bringing the hosts within a goal of Jamaica.
Washington’s late contribution also made amends for a missed opportunity earlier in the second half. Introduced at the interval in place of Paige Bailey-Gayle, she had fired directly at Mexican goalkeeper Esthefanny Barreras in the 55th minute.
Jamaica goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer also played a crucial role in preserving her team’s advantage, producing two important saves as Mexico searched for another equaliser.
Her most notable intervention came in the 85th minute when she reacted to a close-range attempt, diving left to turn the ball away.
The seven-goal encounter marked a significant achievement for Jamaica, who scored four times against North American opposition in a single match for the first time. It was also the Reggae Girlz’s first senior international victory over Mexico since 2022.
The result came in the opening match of two scheduled friendlies between the countries, with Jamaica using the fixtures as part of preparations for their Concacaf Women’s Championship quarter-final against Costa Rica.

Earlier in the contest, Mexico captain Rebeca Bernal, who plays for Manchester United, had reduced Jamaica’s advantage with a header at the far post following a delivery from the right.
The home side also came close to drawing level on another occasion, only to see an effort strike the bottom of the left goalpost.
Jamaica’s third goal had arrived in the 36th minute through Deneisha Blackwood, who converted a penalty awarded by referee Sandra Benitez Arteaga after Khadija Shaw was brought down inside the area.
Mexico’s first response came in the 29th minute when Lizbeth Ovalle connected with a ball delivered from the right, directing her effort beyond Spencer.
Before Mexico mounted their comeback attempts, Jamaica had established a commanding 2-0 advantage within the opening 20 minutes.
Jodi Brown opened the scoring in the 15th minute following an attacking sequence initiated by Shaw, who carried the ball from Jamaica’s half into Mexican territory.
Shaw subsequently found Bailey-Gayle near the left side of the penalty area, and her pass set up Brown to finish the move.
The Jamaican captain then added her name to the scoresheet, striking from the left side of the penalty area for her 67th international goal and doubling the visitors’ lead.
