The Queen came to the throne in 1952.

Her eldest son, Charles, becomes King Charles III, and the head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms, including Jamaica.

In a statement, His Majesty the King said:

“We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much-loved Mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world.”

Queen Elizabeth II’s  reign of 70 years and seven months, which began on 6 February 1952, was the longest of any British monarch in history.
