Jamaica at risk of being banned from future Olympics
According to the World Anti-doping Agency, Jamaica faces a very real risk of an Olympic ban if the country is found to be non-compliant of its drug testing obligations.
Current WADA president John Fahey had this to say: “The current position is unacceptable to WADA and we’re not going to take it lying down, their suggestion that they’ll talk to us next year.” Fahey told London’s Daily Telegraph.
“To suggest to WADA they’re not ready to meet with us to talk about their problem until sometime next year is unsatisfactory. It’s totally unacceptable to me and we shall act appropriately within an appropriate time frame.”
The Jamaican prime minister had invited WADA to investigate allegations that no drug tests had been performed by the Jamaican Anti-Doping Commission in the lead-up to last year’s Olympics in London.
Furious with JADCO and its attempts to defer any investigations, Fahey promised an “appropriate” response from WADA.
When pushed on whether Jamaica runs the risk of being declared non-compliant, Fahey added: “There are a number of options. You can read into that exactly what those words are likely to mean but I don’t want to flag it up.”
If Jamaica is found to have breached its anti-doping obligations, ‘megastar’ athletes like six-time Olympic champion Usain Bolt may be banned from competing on the world stage, including the Olympics.

Over the decades, United States athletes have benefitted immensely from PEDs, The United States and WADA must therefore be commended for being at the forefront of the fight against PEDs in especially athletic sport which has ultimately opened the door for our athletes being able to perform on a somewhat leveler playing field. Where there is smoke there is fire. However, none of Jamaica’s top athletes have tested positive for anything. So, for WADA to say it is doubtful of Ja. anti-doping programme is asinine. I am sure the Jamaican athletes are vigorously monitored.
This is bull shit and clearly they are out to get us out of the competitions because of our talent. Pure prejudicial treatment.
