Our Jamaica, Our Time!
If history is written with the truth then the facts of our past are preserved as blueprints for all to see.
Never believe that change can never happen within our country, for our people and in our lifetime.
The issue is not about the leadership but always about the integrity of the policies that are introduced; the ability to create the structures and opportunities for such policies; and the expectation of the electorate to see changes in the short-term which is aligned to long-term goals.
The strategies, however rigid, must be executed with the consciousness of positive growth and a solid developmental platform.
Wasting time by pointing fingers serves as much purpose as flogging a dead horse.
The concept of “opposition” is so flawed that when either side sits there it is viewed as a rebuttal to a fictitious moot that is of no national importance.
Should we even stop to think of how the ritualistic role of tribalism separates us from the necessary motivation required to move Jamaica forward, we could achieve so much more socially, economically and personally.
The inescapable stronghold of partisan choices lacks the merit of beneficial changes which can propel or catapult this nation forward.
We argue about trivial and senseless issues and conceptualize effective and efficient ways to break each other down. What of our own desires to correct political errors; build relationships and cooperative moulds; and preserve the legacy of national pride?
Do we have to weaken the opposing half which can lend stable support to the recovery of all that which has been torn and tattered?
Come Jamaicans, let us forge an alliance to research, develop and introduce policies that work. We can do it! We just need the leadership to let go of the bitterness and rivalry that consume and poison our minds against each other.
We have more to give than just a debacle of debates that offer only promises but miss the real issues of solution. The country doesn’t stand still after an election, it either declines or grows.
Let’s just focus on the changes required to leap forward because it is long overdue. We need effective policies; accountable measures; and the resilience of a people in moving beyond the boundaries of the two colours that tear us apart.
The time is now! Let us reclaim our national pride and rid ourselves of the persistent divide of political alliance. It can be done! It must be done! It shall be done! Finally, let’s colour our hearts in our national colours of BLACK, GOLD & GREEN because we are JAMAICANS!
