Jamaica’s ‘Axeman’ to Move Up in Weight Class
Jamaica’s ‘Axeman’ – Nicholas Walters is to move up to a heavier weight class when he takes on American super-featherweight Jason Sosa at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in New York on December 19.
Walters, a former World Boxing Association (WBA) featherweight lost his featherweight title earlier this year following his failure to make the appropriate weight in a fight against Miguel Marriaga.
He was also fined for his inability to make weight after being 1 pound over the 126 lbs limit.
The Jamaican star still went on to give Marriaga a sound beating.
Following the loss of his title, the ‘Axeman’ dropped to number four in the featherweight division’s rankings, which meant a shot at the title might not happen any time soon.
Walters currently boasts a 26 and 0 record with 21 knockouts, while Sosa has 18 wins, one loss and three draws, with 14 of those wins coming by way of knockout.
