Fantan Mojah Dies Following Reported Heart Complications

Reggae singer Fantan Mojah has died at the age of 49 after suffering complications related to his heart.

The Rastafarian artiste is said to have passed away on Tuesday evening at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston, just three weeks before his 50th birthday.

Before his death, Fantan Mojah had reportedly been making plans to perform at this year’s Reggae Jam Festival in Germany after securing approval for his Schengen visas.

The engagement would have marked another overseas appearance following his return to touring in Europe earlier this year.

In the days leading up to his passing, the singer was reportedly staying with friends in Portmore, where his condition deteriorated rapidly. Reports indicated that he had been unable to exert himself because of his declining health.

Known for his spiritually inspired reggae music, Fantan Mojah built a devoted fan base through songs rooted in Rastafarian teachings, social consciousness and passionate performances.

He is also reported to have been the father of at least five children.

His health struggles had become public in recent years.

In July 2024, he was hospitalised in Martinique after experiencing breathing difficulties and chest tightness. Reports at the time stated that his heart was operating at roughly 15 per cent capacity.

Despite those setbacks, media reports in early 2025 suggested his recovery was progressing well, allowing him to resume performing in Europe before his reported death.

Further details surrounding the circumstances of his passing were not immediately available.
