Education Ministry Sets CSEC Pass Rate Targets for 2025
The Ministry of Education has announced pass rate targets for this year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Mathematics and English exams, aiming for 49% in Mathematics and 80% in English.
These targets mark an effort to improve on last year’s pass rates of 39% and 76%, respectively.
Chairman of the Education Transformation Oversight Committee (ETOC), Dr. Adrian Stokes, emphasised the urgency of improving the country’s performance in these critical subjects, stating, “The country cannot continue along this path.”
To support this initiative, the Ministry is implementing subject-based camps under the National School Learning and Intervention Plan (NSLIP).
The programme targets 56 high schools, providing face-to-face camps designed to help students sharpen their mathematics skills, build confidence, and receive targeted support.
The Ministry is optimistic that these interventions will yield positive results and set the foundation for sustained improvements in national CSEC performance.
