Leon Bailey Captains Aston Villa For the First Time in Pre-Season Victory

On Wednesday, Reggae Boy Leon Bailey captained Aston Villa for the first time during their pre-season friendly against Walsall.

The match, held at Bescot Stadium, saw Aston Villa secure a 0-3 victory, with Bailey donning the captain’s armband.

Craig Butler, founder of Phoenix Football Academy and Bailey’s adopted father and agent, extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bailey via Instagram.

Butler shared a video montage featuring Bailey and other former Phoenix players, expressing immense pride in Bailey’s achievement.

“To be trusted by Aston Villa to lead the squad, even if just for a moment, is a huge honour and we are truly proud of you, Leon. It shows the club appreciates and believes in your ability to make sound decisions. Let they who have ears let them hear,” Butler wrote.

Fans echoed Butler’s sentiments, highlighting the significance of Bailey’s captaincy.

Bailey, who signed a three-year deal with Aston Villa earlier this year, with an option to extend for another year, continues to impress with his leadership and performance on the field.

His captaincy marks a promising start to what fans and supporters hope will be a stellar season for the Jamaican footballer and Aston Villa.
