Michail Antonio’s late header salvaged a vital point for West Ham United as they held Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at the London Stadium on Saturday.

The result further dented Liverpool’s hopes of clinching the title in Jurgen Klopp’s final season in charge.

The match began with Liverpool controlling possession and dictating the tempo.

Despite Liverpool’s dominance, it was West Ham who took the lead just before halftime, with Jarrod Bowen’s well-placed header finding the back of the net in the 43rd minute.

However, Liverpool responded swiftly in the second half, as Andy Robertson equalised early on to reignite their hopes of securing all three points.

Liverpool regained the lead when Tomas Soucek inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, putting Klopp’s side ahead.

With time running out, West Ham refused to concede defeat and mounted a late surge.

Their persistence paid off in the 77th minute when Michail Antonio rose highest to nod home a crucial equaliser, sending the home fans into jubilation.

The draw leaves Liverpool in third place in the Premier League table, with their title aspirations taking another blow.

Klopp’s team has now managed just one win in their last five league outings, raising concerns over their form heading into the final stretch of the season.

Despite the setback, Liverpool remain in contention for the title, sitting two points adrift of leaders Arsenal, who have a game in hand.

Manchester City, occupying second place, maintain a slender one-point advantage over Klopp’s side with two games in hand.
