JFF: Women’s World Cup team Now Fully Paid

Reggae Girlz jubilant after qualifying for the knockout stage of the Women’s World Cup

The discontented members of Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz World Cup squad have now received all outstanding payments owed to them – according to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).

A stand-off between the Federation and the players saw them make themselves unavailable for selection during the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup qualifiers against Panama and Guatemala.

Their decision to return to the squad was contingent on them being paid the complete 20 percent of the $1.8 million bonus designated for the JFF by FIFA.

This bonus was part of FIFA’s new initiative to reward countries that participated in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The JFF’s General Secretary has also stated that efforts will now be directed towards compensating the remaining players who took part in the qualifying rounds but were not part of the final World Cup squad.
