Smooth Start Expected as Jamaica’s JUTC Deploys 315 Buses for New School Year
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz expressed optimism as the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) prepared to kick off the new school year with a robust fleet of 315 buses.
The deployment includes 50 newly arrived units, promising an improved commuting experience for students and the general public.
The majority of these buses will originate from the JUTC’s Portmore depot, with additional support coming from Spanish Town and Rockfort.
The Portmore depot alone will contribute 120 buses, including 20 of the new arrivals. Spanish Town will contribute 99 buses, and Rockfort in east Kingston will dispatch 96.
Minister Vaz proudly highlighted this development, asserting, “We are definitely on track, and I’m looking forward to a smooth rollout.
Over the weekend, the JUTC worked diligently to dispatch the new buses to the respective depots.
Additionally, the company carried out necessary repairs to older buses to augment the fleet’s capacity in preparation for the reopening of schools.
With these proactive measures and the infusion of new buses, the JUTC is poised to provide a more reliable and efficient transportation service for the community as the new school year commences.
