Clayton Secures Victory with Meet Record as Diamond League Returns to China
Jamaica’s Rushell Clayton achieved an impressive feat in the women’s 400m hurdles at the Xiamen Diamond League, marking a significant return to China for the premier one-day series after a four-year hiatus due to COVID-19 disruptions.
Clayton, who recently claimed the bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary on August 24, secured victory with a remarkable meet-record time of 53.56 seconds.
Her compatriots also demonstrated their prowess on the track, as Andrenette Knight clinched the second position with a time of 53.87 seconds, closely followed by Janieve Russell in third place, finishing in 54.01 seconds.
As the Diamond League continues its journey, the next stop will be Brussels on September 8, with the season concluding in Eugene on September 16-17.
