Barker’s representative, Roger Neal, confirmed his peaceful passing at home, emphasizing the beauty of his life’s journey.
Barker’s impact spanned over five decades on national television.
His illustrious career included hosting the pioneering game show “Truth or Consequences” for nearly 20 years, earning him the title of television’s “most durable performer” in the Guinness World Records.
He then became synonymous with “The Price Is Right,” guiding contestants and fulfilling dreams for an impressive 35 years.
Beyond the entertainment realm, Barker stood out as a dedicated animal rights activist.
His passionate advocacy led to notable moments, like refusing to host the Miss USA pageant due to contestants wearing real furs, and his testimony before Congress supporting a federal ban on using elephants in traveling shows.
Barker’s influence extended beyond the screen, with his substantial donations to law schools in various universities for the advancement of animal rights law.
His numerous accolades included 19 Emmy Awards, induction into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2004, and a lifetime achievement award.
