Tourism Workers Enroll In Pension Program, Approximately 9,000 Participating
The Ministry of Tourism is reporting that as the first anniversary of the Tourism Workers Pension Scheme approaches, approximately 9,000 workers have enrolled.
The government provided $1 billion in seed funding to provide immediate benefits for individuals near retirement.
The Tourism Minister, Edmund Bartlett, expressed that there has been a steady increase in participation by workers, who have contributed approximately $400 million to the fund thus far.
The Pension Scheme will celebrate its first year in March and Minister Bartlett expressed his hopes for its future, stating:
“We’re hoping that by the time we reach the one year anniversary, we will have exceeded 10,000 members and be close to reaching $500 million in contributions.”
