Leon Bailey Is Europa League Player of the Week
Jamaica international Leon Bailey has been named the UEFA Europa League Player of the Week.
The 23-year-old scored twice against Czech football club – Slavia Prague on the last day of group play on Thursday providing his club Leverkusen a comfortable 2-0 lead ahead of the half-time break.
His teammates Moussa Diaby and Karim Bellarabi also found the back of the net in the second half to complete a 4-0 victory.
Leverkusen now sit atop Group C with 15 points, three more than their Czech opponent.
Hapoel Beer-Sheva beat Nice 1-0 to finish third with six.
Yazici scored three goals to lead Lille to a 3-0 win at San Siro on Thursday.
Bailey was named Player of the Week as he beat Hoffenheim forward Maximillian Beier by earning the most votes in a poll on UEFA’s official website.
