Bolt, Blake, Ashmeade Reach Men’s 200m Semis – Rio Games

It was smooth sailing for Jamaica’s Usain Bolt earlier today (August 16) when he comfortably won his heat in the men’s 200m at the Olympic Games currently underway in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Bolt appeared to be in control from start to finish despite easing up considerably early to earn himself the first automatic qualifying spot for the semis with a 20.28s clocking.

Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade – the other two representatives for Jamaica in the event also earned themselves places in the semis.

Blake who clocked a season’s best of 20.13 was second in his heat behind Spain’s Bruno Hortelano, who clocked 20.12 for the victory.

Ashmeade won his heat in 20.15, beating Adam Gemili of Britain, who clocked 20.20.
