“Really Bad News” Bolt Speaks on Failed Beijing Drug Retests of 31 Athletes
The International Olympic Committee recently announced that 31 athletes could be banned from competing at the Rio de Janeiro Games after failing drug retests from the 2008 Beijing Olympics
A day following the announcement, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt voiced his opinion on the revelation describing it as “really bad news” and marks another “rough” moment for the sport.
“It’s rough. It’s rough in the sport.”
“Something that’s been tarnishing the sport for years,”he also stated.
Bolt is slated to run the 100 meters at the Golden Spike meet in the eastern Czech city of Ostrava this coming Friday.
The world’s fastest man is seemingly confident the heightened efforts to clamp down of doping in recent times will yield good results.
“Hopefully, we can take steps forward in making the sports better and in the upcoming years we won’t have these problems,” Bolt said. “But, I think it’s a process, and I think over time we will get better because they’re doing such a good job.”
