Journeys Through Jamaica – Brown’s Town to Ocho Rios (VIDEO)
Jamaica’s lush vegetation, topography and wonderful climate are some of the reasons why so many persons flock to our beautiful island on an annual basis.
Driving through many parts of the island can feel like an adventure especially for visitors who are not accustomed to some of our narrow and bendy interior roads.
On a recent road trip through the island we decided to record a portion of our lengthy expedition to share with our viewers.
The portion we captured takes us from Brown’s Town to Ocho Rios – two major towns located in the garden parish – Saint Ann.
Brown’s Town is one of the principal towns in Saint Ann, and is considered the educational capital of the parish.
Brown’s Town Community College, located in the town, offers pre-tertiary and tertiary courses from the University of Technology, Jamaica and the University of the West Indies.
There are three secondary schools in Brown’s Town: Brown’s Town High School, St. Hilda’s Diocesan High School for Girls, and York Castle High School.
Ocho Rios (Spanish for “Eight Rivers”) caters heavily to tourists as it serves as a port of call for cruise ships, and has several restaurants, nightclubs, resorts and is home to several world famous attractions such as Dunn’s River Falls and Dolphin Cove.
The journey from Brown’s Town to Ocho Rios with our careful driving took a little less than an hour.
You may recognize several places along the way. If you are not familiar with this side of the island, it should be quite an enjoyable viewing experience.
Come with us on this relaxing early morning drive in the video below and let us know if you would like to see more journeys like this.
