Five Policemen Among Six Held in Connection with “Drug Boat”
One civilian and five policemen were arrested on Thursday on suspicion of larceny and corruption.
According to a statement from the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA, there were allegations that on April 22 this year the policemen seized a boat which entered Jamaican waters from Costa Rica.
It was suspected that the boat was used in the illegal drug trade.
The six individuals reportedly solicited a large sum of money for the boat to be returned to its owner.
A report was made to MOCA and the investigation led to the arrests.
The persons arrested are to be interrogated and stand in identification parades.
