Asafa Powell Runs World Leading Time to Win 100m at Jamaica Invitational
Former world’s fastest man Asafa Powell showed a very good sign that he is returning to his world leading form of yester years with a respectable 100m win at the Jamaica International Invitational meet at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday.
He scorched the track to complete the 100m dash in 9.84 seconds. This represents his 87th sub-10 seconds run in his career.
Powell’s victory over U.S sprinter Ryan Bailey delighted many Jamaicans in the nearly full-capacity National Stadium.
Bailey who placed second with a time of 9.98 seconds has been receiving harsh criticisms from many Jamaicans after his controversial celebration mocking Usain Bolt’s “To Di World” pose at last week’s IAAF World Relays. His antics earned him numerous boos from those in attendance.
Jamaica’s Nesta Carter placed third in 9.98 seconds.
