When Will the People of South West St Ann Receive Safe Running Water?

An Open Letter to MP Keith Walford, MP South West St. Ann:

The diaspora in North America and Europe has been appalled at the treatment as it regards potable water supply to the people of South West St. Ann, especially to villagers of Clarksonville, Aboukir, Cedar Valley, Fullerton Park and the environs  of the Dry Harbour Mountain.

The situation since last year has become untenable. Too many times the communities face water crises.

We have sent numerous communication to you informing you of the situation and asking for your intervention and assistance as the new Member of Parliament. Unfortunately despite our communication including opening letters in Jamaica’s daily newspapers and in various blog platforms , our people continue to suffer and we have not seen any action on  your part.

The diaspora is indeed concerned that after 50 years of Independence , Clarksonville, Cedar Valley, and adjoining communities water woes is still a distinguishable feature. We are upset that while most constituencies offer less value to the Jamaican society, their development have surpassed ours in terms of basic amenities. Sir, after three MPs and after producing the most bauxite which is important to the Gross Domestic Product of this nation, our people’s needs are being ignored and shunted.

It is shame that denial of potable water to the citizens of SW St. Ann is a fact of life and we call upon you to deal with the situation now.

We are not asking for much only for what taxpayers and people whose mineral resources have developed Jamaica.

The diaspora therefore awaits anxiously to hear  from  you  with regards to  our people  receiving  water which  is so important to their sustenance and life.

The state of the water woes of Clarksonville and joining communities is overwhelming. This must be fixed without further delay. Investment in the Clarksonville and adjoining communities’ water distribution infrastructure is a good opportunity to take now. Giving the constituents the ability to pay their affordable water bill, generating revenue and helping the country’s economy to move forward.

Yours truly,

Concerned constituents
