Jamaica Positioned to Become Global Medical Marijuana Hub says Ex Canadian Premier
Jamaica’s decision to formally present legislation in Parliament that will decriminalise the possession of small quantities of marijuana has been welcomed by many persons and groups locally and internationally.
A former premier of the Canadian province of Ontario – Ernie Eves, has also expressed his pleasure with the decision.
During a statement on the latest developments, Eves said “Jamaica is now uniquely positioned to become the medical marijuana hub of the world”.
Eves is currently chairman of Timeless Herbal Care, a Jamaican medical marijuana company with ties to Canada and Israel.
The proposed legislation if enacted will spare persons who have two ounces or less of marijuana in their possession from arrest or detention and pave the way for a legal medical marijuana industry.
Jamaica should have done that many, many years ago , instead of the Government borrowing millions of dollars each year to support Jamaica, causing the Jamaican dollar to devalue to little and nothing.
