Legalizing ‘Weed’ a smart move for Jamaica? (Film)

When you mention the word ‘Ganja’ for many across the world the first place that comes to mind is Jamaica.

Many persons are still under the untrue impression that marijuana possession and use is legal in Jamaica. The reality is cannabis has not been legal in Jamaica for over 100 years.

We are blessed (some would say cursed) with some of the world’s most potent, natural cannabis. Though the drug is abused by many, it does have numerous medicinal benefits .

Jamaica is currently aiming to decriminalize marijuana this year. It has already been decriminalized in Uruguay and several other countries are giving legalization serious consideration.

  

Many believe decriminalizing marijuana could play a major role in boosting Jamaica’s frail economy.

Jamaica’s first medicinal marijuana company, Medicanja, launched this year following renewed debate around ganja law reform among leading policymakers.
