A 31-year-old mentally ill man by the name of Kamoza Clarke form Bunker’s Hill, Trelawny is currently in a vegetative state following injuries he sustained in jail.
The man’s injuries are believed to be caused from “repeated blunt-force trauma to the head”.
These injuries are indicative of someone that was badly beaten, however the police, in whose custody he was at the time of the incident, claim that Clarke “fell and hit his head on a wooden bench”.
Explanations given by the police have not been well received by the family, as they have requested a thorough investigation into the incident that has left the young member of their family fighting to survive.
Reports are that he was beaten on his hand and head by police officers, and also doused with pepper spray.
He reportedly lost consciousness and was rushed to the Falmouth Hospital, where he regained consciousness only for a short while.
His condition continued to worsen and he was then taken to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where it was determined that he could not breathe on his own.
