Reggae Boy Jermaine Hue Suspended after Failing drug test

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has today decided to suspend Jamaican international footballer Jermaine Hue as well as the doctor of the Jamaican team, Dr Carlton Fraser, both of whom had been provisionally suspended in August for an anti-doping rule violation following a doping control conducted after the qualifying match for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ played in Tegucigalpa, Honduras on 11 June 2013.

The player has been declared ineligible for a period of 9 months after testing positive for dexamethasone, a substance included on WADA’s 2013 Prohibited List.

The team doctor has been declared ineligible for a period of 4 years after having administered the above-mentioned prohibited substance to the player.

By testing positive for a prohibited substance, the player has violated article 6 of the FIFA Anti-Doping Regulations, and by administrating the prohibited substance to the player, the team doctor has contravened article 13 of said regulations. As such, both have contravened article 63 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

The suspension periods will last until 6 May 2014 (for the player) and 6 August 2017 (for the doctor), the provisional suspensions imposed on the player and the team doctor by the chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee having been taken into consideration. This suspension covers all types of match, including domestic, international, friendly and official fixtures.
