High School Students Barred from School for Tuition Fees

Over 20 students who attend Kingsway High in Kingston will not be allowed on the school’s compound after the midterm break, unless outstanding tuition fees are paid.

This after administrators at the private school refused entry to the at least 25 students yesterday morning (May 21) claiming their parents are delinquent in paying school fees.

Principal of the school, Jaron Whitely, has sought to explain the reason behind the institution’s decision to turn back the students.

Kingsway high school JamaicaMr. Whitely stated that despite numerous warnings, some parents have refused to settle outstanding accounts.

  

However, Mr. Whitely said the students whose fees are paid by the government were not affected.

The principal says at least one student owes more than $200,000 in outstanding fees.

Student’s pay $35,000 per term for tuition at the institution.
