4 Foreigners arrested in Anti Electricity Theft Operation in St. James!

many people are stealing electricity in jamaicaThe theft of electricity is a common practice for many Jamaicans and non nationals are displaying their willingness to carry out the illegal act.

According to a report by Irie FM, four foreign nationals are among 35 persons who were taken into custody by the police, during a massive anti-electricity theft operation, in three St. James communities on May 16.

The operation was conducted in Norwood, Lilliput and Whitehouse, and targeted residential and commercial customers.

The four foreign nationals were among the persons arrested in the Lilliput area.

  

JPS Parish Manager for St. James and Trelawny, Marvin Anderson says during yesterday’s operation, four built-in meter bypasses, a number of throw-ups and other illegal connections were discovered.

He revealed that the arrests of the 35 individuals, push the number of persons arrested for electricity theft in St. James, to well over 100 since the start of the year.

He appealed to individuals who are stealing electricity to desist from doing so and to have their supplies regularised.
