Jamaican Starlink Users to Pay More Starting June 18

Satellite internet provider Starlink is raising the cost of its residential internet service in Jamaica next month, as the company continues adjusting prices in several markets worldwide amid growing demand for satellite-based broadband services.

Beginning June 18, Jamaican residential customers will pay J$7,450 per month instead of the current J$7,000, representing a 6.4 per cent increase. Subscribers were informed through an email advising that the revised charge would apply from their next billing cycle on or after that date.

The adjustment in Jamaica comes at a time when Starlink has also been increasing prices in other countries, including the United States, where several residential and roaming plans recently received monthly increases ranging from US$5 to US$10.

Across Jamaica, Starlink has become increasingly popular among users seeking alternatives to traditional internet providers, particularly in rural districts and communities where fibre infrastructure remains limited or unreliable.

The satellite internet company said the pricing change is tied to continued investment in expanding network capacity, improving coverage and strengthening service reliability as usage continues to rise globally.

According to notices sent to customers, the company maintained that subscribers would still receive unlimited data suitable for activities such as gaming, video calls, 4K streaming and general high-speed internet use.

Starlink operates through a network of low-Earth orbit satellites launched by SpaceX and has rapidly expanded its global customer base over the past few years. Reports indicate the service now reaches millions of users across more than 160 countries and territories.

The latest increase also reflects wider cost pressures facing telecommunications and technology providers internationally, including higher operating, equipment and launch-related expenses tied to expanding digital infrastructure.

In recent months, Starlink has continued aggressively growing its global operations while introducing pricing changes and new service structures in several regions as competition in the satellite internet market intensifies.
