Jamaica’s Demarai Gray Shines Bright in CONCACAF Gold Cup, Secures Spot in Tournament’s Best XI

Demarai Gray, the talented winger who recently joined Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz, has been recognised for his outstanding performances in the CONCACAF Gold Cup by being included in the tournament’s best XI.

Among all the players hailing from the Caribbean, Gray is the sole representative in the team of the competition, which was recently announced by CONCACAF.

On his 27th birthday and in just his second appearance for the Jamaican national team, Gray made a significant impact by scoring two goals in the first half of the Reggae Boyz’ 4-1 victory over Trinidad and Tobago.

The match took place at City Park in St Louis, Missouri.

Additionally, Gray provided an assist in the opening game, where Jamaica drew 1-1 against the USA, and played a crucial role in the winning goal during the quarterfinals against Guatemala.

Gray, who currently plays for Everton, concluded the tournament with two goals, ranking him as the sixth-highest scorer. He also contributed two assists to his team’s success. Jesús Ferreira of America secured the top spot in the scoring charts, having netted an impressive seven goals.

Joining Gray in the Gold Cup’s Best XI are:

Ferreira (USA); Ismael Díaz, Édgar Bárcenas, Adalberto Carrasquilla, and Fidel Escobar from Panama; as well as Orbelín Pineda, Luis Chávez, Johan Vásquez, Jorge Sánchez, and Guillermo Ochoa representing Mexico.
