Heavy Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Across Jamaica Through Saturday

Jamaica is expected to experience unstable weather conditions through Saturday as a broad trough continues to affect the region.

The Meteorological Service says the system is expected to produce a large area of disorganised showers and thunderstorms, with unstable conditions beginning Tuesday afternoon.

Cloudiness is forecast to increase gradually, followed by intermittent showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, across most parishes.

A trough is an elongated area of relatively low atmospheric pressure that can produce clouds, showers and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, sea conditions are expected to deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.

Fishers and other marine interests, particularly those operating inshore and offshore along the south coast, are being urged to exercise caution.

The Meteorological Service says it will continue monitoring the system and provide updates as necessary.
