WhatsApp Introduces Message Editing Feature, Allowing Users to Revise Sent Messages
WhatsApp, the popular chat app owned by Meta, has introduced a new feature that allows users to revise their sent messages within a 15-minute timeframe.
In a recent blog post, the company announced the rollout of this capability, enabling users to correct misspellings, provide additional details, or make any necessary changes to their messages.
The edit message feature has already begun rolling out to users worldwide and is expected to be available to all users in the coming weeks.
To modify a sent message, users simply need to press and hold the message, select the “edit” option, and make the desired changes. Once edited, the message will display the “edited” status, although the recipients will not have access to the edit history, ensuring privacy and maintaining message integrity, as stated by WhatsApp.
Apple had previously introduced a similar functionality for iMessages between iPhones, allowing users to edit and unsend messages. In this system upgrade, the recipient is notified that a message has been unsent and can view the edit history, according to Apple.
Overall, WhatsApp’s new edit message feature grants users greater control over their conversations by allowing them to rectify any errors or omissions, further enhancing the messaging experience for its global user base.
