USA Holds England To Scoreless Draw

USA impress at World Cup!

The USA outplayed England in their group stage encounter in the 2022 World Cup on Friday but failed to capitalise on a few glorious chances as the two sides played to a goalless, but entertaining draw.

England fielded the same players that won Iran 6-2 , but were careless in possession and as a result have not booked a spot in the knockout stage with a game to spare.

Prior to the game, United States midfielder Tyler Adams suggested that he is more frightened of spiders than he is of England.

“England are still a big team at the end of the day, but the intimidation factor? I wouldn’t say there’s many things out there that intimidate me, other than spiders,” he said. “So it’s fine for me, but obviously I’ve got to play against all those big players, so I’ve done it before.

“But we also want to show what we’re capable of and that U.S. soccer is developing and growing in the right way.”

The USA were much improved from their 1-1 with Wales.

The draw means that the USA need to beat Iran in their final group stage match to qualify for the knockouts.

It’s worth noting that Jamaica’s last game against the USA ended in a 1-1 draw.
