Four UK Flight Passengers Test Positive For New COVID-19 Strain
Four passengers on the December 21 flight from the United Kingdom (UK) that landed in Jamaica have returned positive results for the new strain of the COVID-19.
During a COVID-19 press conference on Saturday, Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton, said the tests were confirmed after being sent to the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA).
That flight was the last from the UK to enter the island.
Following the flight, the government placed a ban on travel to and from the UK for a period of two weeks.
However, earlier this week, the ban was extended to January 31.
Twenty passengers overall from that flight tested positive and were placed in state quarantine.
