Deplorable Conditions For Jamaican Athletes at Olympic Village in Rio
For weeks there have been heightened concerns regarding the readiness of the still incomplete athletes’ village that is to house participating athletes at Rio Olympic Games.
There have been widespread complaints from teams from various countries about the conditions of the rooms in which they are being housed.
Some of the many complaints are about leaking pipes, exposed wiring and blocked toilets.
Because of this, several countries have been reluctant to allow their athletes to move into the village.
After arriving at the village this week, Team Jamaica was unfortunately greeted by several living quarters that based on the video below by The Gleaner, appear to be in a rather terrible state:
The video obtained by The Gleaner shows that in one block occupied by veteran quarter miler Novlene Williams Mills and 1500 metre runner Aisha Praught nothing appeared complete.
