Cincinnati Teens to Deliver Over 1,000 Pairs of Shoes to Jamaican Children
A group of teenagers from Cincinnati, Ohio (USA) will travel to Jamaica on Saturday to hand out over 1,200 pairs of quality sneakers for children on the island.
The teens, Kellen Newman, 14, Curtis Harrison, 13, and Spencer Boyd, 13, who describe themselves as self-proclaimed “sneaker-heads,” garnered tremendous attention when they created their own nonprofit called Sole Bros Inc late last year.
According to a report by Cincinnati’s WLWT5 News, the young men stated they were inspired by a story told by Spencer’s mother, in which she said that some children in Jamaica had no shoes at all. Together, the boys embarked on a mission to donate shoes to children in need.
The three boys, who were motivated by former Bengals football player and philanthropist Dhani Jones, ended up with some impressive partners.
DHL has also reportedly donated 400 pairs of shoes and shipped them to Jamaica.
The teens say this mission has set them on a life journey.
