Historic Collapse: West Indies Bowled Out for 27 in Record-Breaking Defeat to Australia

A woeful batting effort saw the West Indies crash to a historic low of 27 all out at Sabina Park on Monday, as Australia completed a dominant 176-run victory and sealed a 3-0 series whitewash in the final day/night Test.

Chasing a modest target of 204, the Windies capitulated to the second-lowest total in Test history—just one run better than New Zealand’s infamous 26 against England in 1955.

The performance stunned the home crowd and set unwanted records in what quickly turned into a one-sided contest.

Mitchell Starc starred for Australia, delivering a sensational spell in his 100th Test to claim a career-best 6 for 9.

He struck twice in his opening over, removing Kevlon Anderson and Brandon King in successive deliveries, before dismissing Mikyle Louis for his 400th Test wicket—an achievement that highlighted the day’s drama.

The West Indies had crumbled to 0 for 3 early in the innings and never recovered.

Seven batters failed to score, with only Justin Greaves (11), Shai Hope (2), Mikyle Louis (4), and Alzarri Joseph (4) making any impact.

Scott Boland compounded the hosts’ misery with figures of 3 for 2, including a hat-trick—the 10th by an Australian in Test history—removing Hope, Shamar Joseph, and Jomel Warrican in consecutive deliveries.

Earlier in the day, Australia resumed on 99 for 6 in their second innings and were bowled out for 121.

Cameron Green top-scored with 42 before falling to the first ball of the day, bowled by Shamar Joseph. Alzarri Joseph delivered a standout performance for the West Indies with 5 for 27, while Shamar Joseph supported with 4 for 34.

Despite promising moments with the ball, the Windies’ batting collapse under relentless pressure handed Australia full control of the match.

Final Scores:
Australia: 225 & 121
West Indies: 143 & 27 all out

The focus now shifts to the five-match T20 International series, which begins Sunday, July 20 at Sabina Park.
