Select Tax Offices To Open On Saturdays
Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has announced that select Tax Offices across several parishes will open on Saturdays beginning May 3, 2025.
The move follows a recent announcement by the Minister of Finance during the budget presentation and forms part of the authority’s efforts to improve access to its services.
This expanded initiative builds on TAJ’s previous model, which saw limited Saturday operations mainly at month-end.
Over the next three months, from May to July, select locations will offer services on scheduled Saturdays between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The Portmore Tax Office in St. Catherine will maintain its regular Saturday hours of 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Taxpayers visiting the offices during these hours will be able to access most weekday services, excluding Audit and Compliance functions.
Services available include processing of motor vehicle transactions, applying for a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN), submitting documents for driver’s licence renewal, and making tax and fee payments.
TAJ has stated that the expanded Saturday openings are intended to provide greater convenience for taxpayers and help reduce the high volume of walk-in traffic typically experienced during the busy month-end period.
Motorists who have not yet collected their printed driver’s licence cards can do so at the Tax Office where their application was submitted. Property owners can also take advantage of the added hours to make property tax payments.
The TAJ also reminded the public that many transactions can be completed online. These include payments for Driver’s Licence renewal, Motor Vehicle Fitness Certificate, Traffic Tickets, Business Taxes and Deductions, and Property Tax.
Motorists may also renew their Motor Vehicle Registration Certificate online and use a designated quick-pickup window at their selected Tax Office.
TAJ says it remains committed to improving customer access and streamlining its services for greater efficiency.
