Greenwood Screamer Helps Marseille Clinch Champions League Spot as Jamaica Waits
Mason Greenwood continued his impressive debut season in France with a sensational long-range strike that helped Marseille seal a return to the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 2021.
The 22-year-old forward, who is in the process of obtaining the necessary documents to represent Jamaica internationally, rifled in a brilliant goal from 25 yards to put his team ahead against Le Havre on Saturday.
The ex-Manchester United man’s stunner came when Marseille looked set to drop points in a tense Champions League qualification race.
Greenwood’s strike settled the visitors’ nerves and sparked a 3-1 victory, confirming their top-four finish in Ligue 1 with one game to spare.

Now on 20 goals for the season, Greenwood has been a key figure in Marseille’s campaign, despite facing challenges along the way.
His attitude and work rate have come under scrutiny at times, with head coach Roberto De Zerbi benching him earlier in the season for what was described as a lack of effort.
Rumours have also swirled about a possible return to the Premier League due to homesickness.
Still, Greenwood’s performances on the pitch have made a strong case for his continued rise—and potentially for Jamaica.
Marseille, currently second in Ligue 1 and one point ahead of Monaco, will look to close out their season on a high when they host Rennes next Saturday.
